Daniele Baselli 1 Arsenal target Daniele Baselli has denied agreeing a deal to join AC Milan and says he will keep his options open at the end of the season.Arsene Wenger has been linked with a bid for the Atalanta midfielder, who has been in impressive form the Serie A side.He looked to have passed the Gunners by when he opened talks over a switch to the San Siro at the start of this year. But a move did not materialise and the 22-year-old insists there have been no further talks with the Italian giants.Baselli, speaking in Corriere di Bergamo, said: “Yes, I went to Milan. There was interest, but nothing has been agreed. I know there’s interest, and nothing else.“I’m here in an Atalanta shirt, and I’m just thinking about doing well. My goal is to have consistency, to show something extra on the pitch, so far I’ve managed to play a lot.“After that other teams may come in, but I’ve never spoken to Galliani.”
The company behind plans to salvage up to €1 Billion of gold from a shipwreck off the Donegal coast may not bring it back to Irish shores. The Government want to slap a 7.5% fee for Atlantic Sub Sea Adventures to bring the gold back to Irish soil. But local Deputy Pat the Cope Gallagher is trying to liaise between the company and the Government to encourage them to come to an agreement to land any gold here. The bullion comes from the 2,000 tonne, 220 metre RMS Empress of Britain, a passenger ship that was struck by a German bomber in 1940.Deputy Gallagher said the firm is not obliged to bring the gold back to Irish soil but he has met with the firm behind the plans. He said “The last tests on the Empress of Britain was carried out using a 3D acoustic survey in May of last year.“They surveyed 12 vessels in 2018 and they are now concentrating on this vessel and are quite confident, having carried out the surveys, that there is gold inside worth €1 Billion. “Because of the location, they don’t have to bring the vessel onto Irish shores. If they do, then the appropriate legislation is there and means the State would attract a 7.5% level.”However, he warned “The company are telling me that it would have to be a lesser percentage if they are going to bring it into Ireland.”The Department of Transport said they are keeping the matter under review.Donegal’s gold bullion may never land on our shores because of 7.5% tax was last modified: May 23rd, 2019 by StephenShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:bulliondonegalGoldPat The Cope Gallagher
Air New Zealand has unveiled new economy seats for its A320/321neo aircraft that are up to 3cm wider than existing seats and feature a new slimline design the airline says will offer passengers more space. In a bid to make it more attractive, the much disliked middle seat will be 3cm wider — or 48.6cms (19.1 inches) wide — in the new aircraft. The window and aisle seats will be 1cm wider than the existing seats, which are 45.4cms (17.9 inches) between the armrests. The airline revealed the new economy seats by UK company Acro Aircraft on Wednesday at Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg and said it had also worked with New Zealand company Flight Designs to develop a new seat cover delivering “superior comfort levels for longer’’.An AirNZ spokeswoman said seat pitch on the neos would be similar to the current A320 international fleet but a slimmer seatback design would provide more personal space. Seat pitch on the current A320s goes as low as 30 inches and as high as 34 inches, according to SeatGuru.Air New Zealand general manager customer experience Anita Hawthorne said in the company’s announcement that the design of the new seat was customer-led.Hawthorne said the airline and Acro had been keen to address key areas of customer feedback and further improve the inflight experience.“The slightly wider middle seat helps balance out the fact that window and aisle seat customers enjoy a greater sense of space,’’ she said. “We currently have many customers who state a preference for window or aisle seats and it’s possible the new design may see the middle seat get a boost in popularity.AirNZ has a history of innovation, particularly in terms of seating, and Hawthorne said company believed the new seats were not practical from an operational perspective but more comfortable and spacious for customers.Acro Chief Executive Officer Chris Brady said the seat attracted attention at the interiors expo.“To reveal the new seat at this event, which showcases all the very latest innovations, technologies and products for cabin interiors was hugely exciting and piqued a lot of interest in the new product from other airlines and the wider industry alike,” he said.Air NZ has 13 Airbus A320neo family aircraft on order to replace its current A320 fleet and will receive a combination A320neos and A321neos with deliveries widely expected to start in 2018.“The exact configuration for our A320/A321neo aircraft and delivery schedule is yet to be finalised,’’ the airline’s spokeswoman said.

Tuesday (Nov. 21) marked the nine year anniversary of Newton’s arrest, and he posted a message about it and offered encouragement for those who’ve also made huge mistakes.“I contemplated posting this and even reluctant about it, but as I think about my life and many things I’m thankful for, I want to be an open book, so people can hear my testimony and learn from the flaws and mistakes I made on this day 11/21/2008, “he wrote. “On this date I thought my life and career was over, and the fact that I had shamed my family with media coverage surrounding this situation, I vowed to myself on this day that I will be better from this situation.”In addition, Newton said no one gave him a chance to succeed after his arrest, and they doubted he could turn things around. But he refused to listen to any of that, which led him to his current position as the on-the-field leader of the Carolina Panthers and one of the NFL’s elite quarterbacks.Newton also encouraged others, who face difficult times, to keep dreaming and reaching for their goals.“If I can do it with my circumstances surely you can do it and be whatever you want to be with hard work and persistence,” he wrote. It’s possible that his post could be a direct message to young Black men, considering how unforgiving the criminal justice system is when they make a mistake that leads to an arrest.According to a 2014 study published in the journal Crime & Delinquency, nearly 50 percent of Black men are arrested by the time they turn age 23.On top of that, the Justice Department released data — published by Mother Jones — that shows Black juveniles are five times more prone than white juveniles to be sent to jail or prison. But Newton’s post could’ve also been about the recent high profile case of Meek Mill, who was sentenced to 2-4 years in prison for violating probation. Or possibly to LiAngelo Ball, Cody Riley and Jalen Hill, the UCLA players who were arrested for shoplifting in China. But either way, he didn’t specify. InstagramIn 2008, when he was a student at The University of Florida, NFL star Cam Newton was arrested for stealing a fellow student’s laptop. He was eventually charged with felony counts of burglary, larceny, and obstruction of justice -because he threw the laptop out a window. I’m supposed to be locked up too. If you escaped what I’ve escaped, you’d be in Paris getting messed up too,” he wrote. After he posted his message, Newton’s followers praised him for his openness and called him brave. “Thank you for sharing, Cam,” one person wrote. “He made a mistake like we all have before,” wrote another. One man named David Phillips pointed to Newton’s level of resilience and his willingness to help others navigate the difficult days of youth.“Man, the ripple effects from a post like this,” he wrote. “At some point, life will throw everyone a curveball. It’s how you respond that makes the difference … Someone’s life will probably never be the same after reading it.”
The Ohio State baseball team celebrates its victory against Xavier March 19 at Bill Davis Stadium. OSU won, 10-3.Credit: Sam Harrington / Lantern photographerWith Big Ten play looming, the Ohio State baseball team appears to be starting to play their best ball of the season.Playing under a gray sky for most of the evening, the Buckeyes (13-6, 0-0) came out shining and rolled to their fifth-straight victory, defeating Xavier, 10-3, Wednesday. The game featured two freshman starting pitchers on the bump with the Musketeers’ (11-7, 0-0) Trent Astle going against the Buckeyes’ Tanner Tully.Tully, starting his first collegiate game, began with a commanding five-pitch first inning. Astle wasn’t so lucky.Sophomore infielder Troy Kuhn was batting first for the Buckeyes and, on the second pitch he saw, smacked a homerun over the left field wall. The shot was Kuhn’s fourth of the year, good enough to lead the team.“I’m seeing the ball real well,” Kuhn said. “I keep getting good pitches to hit … taking advantage of other teams mistakes.”With runners on second and third and still no outs, freshman outfielder Ronnie Dawson had an RBI groundout and sophomore infielder Zach Ratcliff followed with an RBI single to give the Buckeyes a quick 3-0 lead.Astle found himself in another jam to begin the second. With the bases loaded and nobody out, sophomore infielder Jacob Bosiokovic hit a sac fly to deep center that plated two. Junior outfielder Pat Porter followed with a sac fly of his own to score another and give Tully a six-run lead to work with. The freshman responded, going five innings with five hits on no runs scored. When Tully had Musketeers in scoring position, he turned up the heat to keep them at bay.“It was good just to go in there and throw strikes and keep the defense in it,” Tully said. “I throw a little bit harder, hit my spots a little bit more (with runners in scoring position) and make sure they don’t score.”Coach Greg Beals was impressed enough with Tully’s first start to say he would probably be the Sunday starter this weekend.“There was no question in my mind he was capable of starting and capable of doing what he did,” Beals said. “To put five zeros up like that, though, was sure good to see … in our meeting tomorrow there’s a pretty good chance we decide Tanner Tully is our Sunday starter this weekend.”The Musketeers scored one in the sixth and two more in eighth to give them a chance, but the offense rose to the occasion and responded with four runs of their own in the eighth.Redshirt-senior reliever Tyler Giannonatti recorded the final four outs to give him his first save of the season and keep the Buckeyes perfect at home so far.The win streak has been an enjoyable one for the Buckeyes, but they know it isn’t time to get complacent.“We’re pretty happy (with where we are), but this is where our mission starts,” Kuhn said. “We want to come out hot.”The Buckeyes are next scheduled to Friday when the Michigan State Spartans come to town. First pitch at Bill Davis Stadium is set for 6:05 p.m.
Luciano Spalletti believes Inter Milan’s comeback win against Tottenham Hotspur will be an added boost to his squad.Speaking ahead of their clash with Sampdoria, the Italian manager is optimistic will return to winning ways owing to the confidence in his side.“Winning games like the one on Tuesday gives us confidence and confirms the means are there for us to do well,” he said at a Press conference.“I think it gave us a bonus to multiply tomorrow. We showed character against Tottenham, but I’d like to emphasise that we also played with intelligence, pressing high up the pitch but without ever losing balance.Capello calls Lukaku “a modern striker” Manuel R. Medina – September 14, 2019 The former Italian manager believes Romelu Lukaku is perfectly suited for Antonio Conte’s Internazionale Milan in the Serie A.“We showed character, but it shouldn’t remain an isolated case. Mauro gives everything on the field.“It’s clear he must make runs that benefit the team, while the team must take his quality into account, managing to put him in a position so he can express himself better.“Just a few seconds of great talent are enough for a top player to score a goal, but in order to play like champions, 95 minutes of character are needed.“I rate Giampaolo’s work highly. He’s a modern Coach, and he took too long to come to the fore, but he’s showing all his quality.“He has a top squad, his team build from the back and play in accordance with their opponents, without forgetting Sabatini: I’d like to say ‘hello’ to him, but I know he has to complete his treatment first.”
