This will benon-tenure track contract position at Assistant, Associate, or FullProfessor level depending on the qualifications.The Department of Mechanical Engineering (http://www.me.vt.edu/),which includes a Nuclear Engineering Program, has 67 faculty, 30affiliate faculty, annual research expenditures of over $18M, and acurrent enrollment of 300 graduate students with 180 students atdoctoral level, and over 1100 undergraduate students. Thesuccessful candidate will be responsible for primarily teachingundergraduate and graduate courses in both regular classrooms anddistance-learning settings, and for mentoring and advisingstudents. It is expected that the candidate will research andimplement pedagogical methods to improve education outcomes. Thoughnot required, the candidate is also encouraged to be involved inresearch in particular if it supports the teaching mission. We areseeking candidates who have a broad teaching interest in allmechanical engineering subareas, including all traditional areas ofsolid and fluid mechanics, materials, heat transfer,thermodynamics, vibrations, controls, design, technical electives,capstone senior design, and experimentation courses.
