(Photo by Christian Petersen/Getty Images)The College Football Playoff race is complicated every year, but the 2018 version could be the most controversial yet. There are dozens of scenarios – mostly because there are only three undefeated teams in contention at the moment.Lee Corso had a bit of a controversial take on College GameDay Saturday morning. Corso argued that if Alabama, which is now undefeated, loses to Georgia in the SEC title game, the Crimson Tide should still be afforded an opportunity to play in the College Football Playoff.Kirk Herbstreit pressed him a bit – asking him which team he’d then leave out. Corso’s answer? Notre Dame. Why would a team need to be left out? Because Georgia, currently on the outside looking in when it comes to the Playoff field, would be bumped in if it won the SEC.”If Alabama loses to Georgia, I don’t care what the score is, Alabama’s in” –Lee Corso— Medium Happy (@jdubs88) November 10, 2018″I pick Notre Dame, to put ’em out, even if they’re undefeated.”–Corso— Medium Happy (@jdubs88) November 10, 2018If Corso is right, the Playoff would likely consist of Clemson, Georgia, Alabama and Michigan. Notre Dame fans would lose their minds, assuming the team went 12-0.Notre Dame still has three games to play – against Florida State, Syracuse and USC. Most believe that a 12-0 record gets them into the Playoff, no questions asked. In reality, it probably makes more sense to leave Michigan out in such a scenario. Notre Dame beat the Wolverines in the first game of the season, after all. We’ll know more in a few weeks. Notre Dame fans are obviously hoping Corso is wrong.last_img read more
