Major CFB Program Getting Sued By Former Head Coach

(Photo by Mike Ehrmann/Getty Images)The University of Miami has found new life under head coach Mark Richt, but it’s one of their former coaches who is looking to rain on the Hurricanes’ parade.According to TMZ, former Miami head coach Al Golden is suing the football program, alleging that the team deprived him of $3 million when the school fired him in 2015.Per the report, Golden agreed to a $150,000 base salary filled with incentives when he joined the university in 2011.Among the milestones are supposedly a $750,000 bonus for winning the national championship, $400,000 for a runner-up finish, $300,000 for a major bowl win, $25,000 for a 10-win season, and many other perks.Golden coached the Hurricanes from 2011 until mid-2015, when he was fired and replaced by Larry Scott after a 4-3 start.Prior to his stint in Miami, Golden helped turn Temple University into a major college football program. In 2009, he led the Owls to a 9-4 record, reaching a bowl game for the first time since 1979.Golden currently serves as a linebackers coach for the Detroit Lions.last_img read more
