Bhupinder Singh HoodaTwitterFormer Haryana Chief Minister and Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda has supported the Centre’s decision to scrap Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir. The 71-year-old leader, who was speaking at the ‘Mahaparivartan Rally’ in Rohtak, accused the Congress party of losing its identity and said that he would not compromise with anyone when it came to patriotism and self-respect. “When the government does something right I support them. Many of my colleagues opposed the decision to abrogate Article 370, my party has lost its way, it’s not the same Congress it used to be,” he said.Hooda’s statement comes in the backdrop of speculations that the veteran politician from Haryana might quit the party. “Our brothers from Haryana are deployed as soldiers in Kashmir, that is why I supported it,” Hooda said, lauding the decision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He added that the state government will have to give an account of what it did in the last five years and not hide behind the central government’s decision. “I was born in a patriotic family. Those who oppose the revocation of Article 370, I want to tell them that when it’s about principles and traditions, we should fight for it. What’s alive, must look alive,” he saidEarlier reports had suggested that the two-time chief minister was planning to quit Congress ahead of the elections in October. However, he said that he would not quit the party but constitute a committee of 13 MLAs who would decide the future course of action. With his new hit at the Congress, it looks like Hooda is aiming to heml matters in the state again. After Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, Hooda has promised 75 percent job reservation for the locals in the state. The former CM also reportedly met senior Congress leaders, including Sonia Gandhi, in Delhi on August 17. However, he had denied the reports. At the rally, his son Deepender Singh Hooda said: “We follow the path of love, growth and development. The path that the BJP has shown in the last five years is that of riots, unemployment and intolerance. Today, we have a chance to take back Haryana politics in the direction that can help the state grow.” IBTimes VideoRelated VideosMore videos Play VideoPauseMute0:00/4:42Loaded: 0%0:00Progress: 0%Stream TypeLIVE-4:42?Playback Rate1xChaptersChaptersDescriptionsdescriptions off, selectedSubtitlessubtitles settings, opens subtitles settings dialogsubtitles off, selectedAudio Trackdefault, selectedFullscreenThis is a modal window.Beginning of dialog window. Suspected Rohingya people sit on the ground as they arrive in Idi Rayeuk, East Aceh on 4 December 2018. Photo: AFPA boat carrying 20 men believed to be Rohingya migrants landed in Indonesia Tuesday, authorities said, the latest group of the vulnerable Myanmar minority to reach the world’s biggest Muslim-majority nation. They arrived in Aceh province on Sumatra island in a rickety wooden boat, according to a local official, who said he thought the men were the persecuted Muslim Rohingya.”We can’t communicate with them because they don’t speak Indonesian, Acehnese, or English. So we don’t know much about them,” said Iswandi, the head of Idi Rayeuk district where they arrived, who like many Indonesians goes by one name.It is not known where the group, aged between around 20 to 40, set off from. However, in recent weeks authorities in both Myanmar and Bangladesh, where around a million of the Muslim refugees are living in camps, have stopped boats of fleeing Rohingya migrants headed mainly for Malaysia. It has been rare for Rohingya migrants to attempt the sea routes south since Thai authorities clamped down on regional trafficking networks in 2015, sparking a crisis across Southeast Asia as large numbers were abandoned at sea. That year, hundreds of Rohingya came ashore in Aceh, where they were welcomed in the staunchly conservative Islamic province. But there have been concerns the desperate community might start taking to the high seas again after mainly Buddhist Myanmar launched a new military crackdown last year that forced about 700,000 members of the Muslim minority to flee to Bangladesh. In April, about 80 Rohingya in a wooden boat landed in Aceh just weeks after dozens more arrived in neighbouring Malaysia.Indonesia tends to accept asylum seekers but they are usually barred from working and often spend years in immigration centres.

Also Read – Add new books to your shelfIn her address, Minu Budhia welcomed the guests on the behalf of ICC Special Task Force on Special Abilities. She said that this is the first time in any Chamber of Commerce or Industry Association, that a committee or task force has been made to create awareness and talk about mental health. Budhia believes that it is as important for child, as for parents, teachers, or medical professionals. Sharing her personal experience, Minu stated, “As a mother of a special daughter, I have undergone a full circle – running from pillar to post and surprised at the nil or negligible awareness about mental health. I believe that the first step for mental health is acceptance by family and society. We have come a long way but still miles to go. And that is what we are here to do today.” Also Read – Over 2 hours screen time daily will make your kids impulsiveMinu feels that addressing the barriers attached to mental health is important. As a parent, it took her 10 years to understand and accept and then take it as challenge. With that ongoing journey of understanding mental health problems and unfolding the myths about it, she started actively working towards the cause too. In the attempt to fight against the mental health problems, she started her own initiatives like CARING MINDS, a psychological wellness centre and ICANFLYY – an institute for special needs and cafe icanflyy – a cafe which runs by special needs individuals. When it comes to mental health and dealing with its problems, the awareness needs to start from childhood at home, in schools, in colleges and at workplaces. And, the interactive session served as a much-needed platform for exchanging and expanding ideas and issues related to mental health and special needs. While talking in the session, Minu Budhia quoted Demi Lovato: “I wish people could understand that brain is the most important organ of our body. Just because you can’t see mental illness like you see a broken bone, does not mean it is not as detrimental or devastating to a family or an individual.” The session discussed that special need individuals do not need to be employed out of pity or sympathy. Moreover, corporates, businesses and start-ups should be motivated to embrace the idea with an open mind not only because it is a social responsibility, but also as there is a pool of unemployed and under employed talent that can wbe trapped for the employers’ own growth. The discussion led to a conclusion that workplaces where special individuals work with dignity and confidence are needed, in order to them the place and respect they deserve in society.
